My wife normally takes one of our dogs out walking
early in the morning. The dogs behave fairly well, but at times they get
distracted by other dogs or just new smells to sniff.
In our daily walk with the Lord Jesus, we are at times prone to distractions just like our dogs. We may be distracted by the list of things we have to accomplish, or just trying to make ends meet, or maybe we just have too much stuff that is slowly becoming our confidence. 1John 2:6 says, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” We have the perfect example of the Christian walk and what it looks
like. When we read the gospels, we see how Jesus lived His life. His focus was always on doing the will of the Father as He was led by the Holy Spirit. We will not walk perfectly but we have the perfect One to emulate. Our walk with the living God is an enjoyable walk not
a walk out of compulsion, something that we are forced to do. We can never
forget the fact that God is always walking with us as the Holy Spirit
permanently indwells all true believers in Jesus. Because of that fact, the
people we know are watching to see if our words and actions are in sync with
our faith.
Ephesians 4:1 says, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord,
beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.” As we
walk worthy of our calling, we are letting our light shine in a dark world.
Have a glorious walk with your Savior this week.
