Creation and salvation
A few years ago I was working
on a home that was about 100 feet from San Diego bay and two blocks to the west
of their home was the ocean. I would try
and get to the job early and park by the ocean and watch the waves come in. What a wonderful way to start the work day
enjoying and being in awe of God’s creation.
I thought of Psalm 19. The heavens declare the glory of God; and
the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day
unto day utters speech, and night unto
night reveals knowledge. There is no
speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their sound has gone out
through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. A familiar hymn by Stuart Kline goes like
this. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds Thy
hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power
throughout the universe displayed.
God’s creation speaks of an
omnipotent Creator and Master Designer who has put His majesty on display for
all to see. But being in the midst of a
beautiful creation doesn’t testify of the love and compassion of a saving
Creator. Psalm 19 then begins to speak
of the word of God. The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul; the testimony of
the Lord is sure making wise the simple.
The statutes of the Lord are right rejoicing the heart; the commandment
of the Lord is pure enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean
enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous all together. The second stanza of that familiar hymn
states; And when I think, that God His Son not sparing, sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in. That
on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.
It is the word of God through
the Spirit of God that reveals the depth of His love for sinful mankind and the
Holy Spirit that brings life to a dead soul. That new life starts by putting
you faith in Jesus Christ and surrendering your life to Him. I pray everyone who reads this has done that.
Have a wonderful week
enjoying the power and majesty of His creation, while thanking Him for His
saving grace which extends to all who believe.
