Conversation
Some time ago I was working
on the exterior of a beautiful home in the Mission Hills area of San Diego. There are a lot of people that walk by that
house as they are out exercising, or taking their dog for a walk, or just out
for a casual stroll on a beautiful San
Diego morning.
I was able to overhear several conversations as the people walked
by. “I wonder if they are going to
change the color of the house?” “When I
had my house painted on the inside it really smelled terrible.” “I have seen that company many times in this
neighborhood.” Those conversations which I overheard would probably not
have
happened if we were not painting that home. The point being, what stirs up our
conversation during the course of the day?
But more importantly than the
events of the day that stir up conversation, what kind of words do we use? Do we use wholesome and encouraging words or
do we complain about our circumstances and trash talk other people? Or worse yet do we use words that are not
pleasing to the Lord at all? “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your
mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to
the hearers.” Eph 4:29
What a privilege we have that
while we are doing our tasks during the course of a normal day, we can be
engaged in conversation with our Father in Heaven. If someone asks us a
question or there is a topic that spurs conversation, “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may
know how you ought to answer each one.” Col 4:6
Have a wonderful week talking
with God and encouraging and edifying others with your conversations.
Pastor Marty
