I See You.

When children are very young and they try and hide from their parents they may merely cover their face with a blanket. They think that if they can’t see their parents, their parents can’t see them. As they get older, they play the game hide and seek. They are more creative in trying to hide from the person whose job it is to find them. So, the question is do some people try to hide from God or try to hide what they are doing?

One of the many names for God is El Roi, the God who sees. You can read about the

circumstances surrounding this name for Him in Genesis 16. God sees, He sees everything all the time and there is no place where you can hide. Scripture is replete with the attribute of our God who sees all. Proverbs 16:3 says, “the eyes of the Lord are in everyplace, keeping watch on the evil and the good.”  Hebrews 4:13 states, “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Ps 34:15 says, “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.” There are many other passages such as these in the bible.

God seeing you no matter where you are can bring two very different emotions. If you are

entangled in some sin and you know God sees it, that can bring some fear and guilt into your life. However, if you are having a difficult time, as many are in this pandemic, God sees what is going on in your life as well. Because He sees and cares for you, that should bring an aspect of comfort. But the greater comfort is the fact that not only does God see but He is the One who is in control of it all and can actually bring about a change. Many times, He changes our heart attitude or He may alter the situation we are in.

Here is a final thought about the God who sees all. 2Ch 16:9 says, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” God is looking for people to reveal His strength and power in their lives. He is looking for people who are fully trusting and committed to Him. I pray that we are those kind of people.
