Which way do I go?

 

A little while ago, my wife and I took our granddaughter to an aquarium in San Diego.  When we first entered the aquarium, there was a huge tank with hundreds of the same kind of fish and they were all swimming, but going in two different directions. Some were swimming clockwise and others were going counterclockwise. As I watched, some actually changed direction and it seemed they were unsure of which way they should be swimming.

Are we at times unsure of which way we should be going?  Are we easily led astray by

what the majority is doing because we don’t want to appear different than everybody else? At times we all want to be part of the in crowd and do what everyone else is doing. Don’t be swayed by others. God has given to us a True Map and a Compass to keep us on track; His Precious Word. Psalm 119:105 states, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

His Word shows us every step to take and continues to guide us along the right way. Even if everyone seems to be going in a different direction than we are, by staying true to His Word we know we are going the right way.

In Paul’s final instruction to Timothy, he gave him this warning. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (2 Tim 4:3-4)

When we are unsure of the proper path to take, we simply need to look up.  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. (Ps 32:8)
