REMOVED
I have been a painter for many years. During the last 15 years or so, dealing with lead that is found on previously painted surfaces has become a big concern. I had to take classes, pass a test, and become certified to work on houses where lead was present. Extreme guidelines had to be followed when lead needed to be removed before painting could begin. So, let’s compare this issue of lead to sin in our lives.
We grasp the fact that we are sinners and there is a penalty that must be paid for our sins. If you are a Christian there are some very wonderful verses concerning how God has dealtwith our sin (lead). Ps 103:12 states, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Our sins (lead) are removed an unmeasurable distance from us; doesn’t that thrill your soul? Hebrews 8:12 states, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” This shows the kindness and mercy of God as He will not remember our sins. The second to the last verse in the book of Micah states this, “He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” Our sins are not remembered but instead removed and drowned.
God wants us to be very sure about the fact that He is the one dealing with our sins. There are many other verses declaring that we are forgiven. You can’t take care of the sin (lead) issue yourself, because it has already been accomplished by Jesus and is appropriated by faith in Him.
The second verse of the hymn, “It is well with my soul” written by Horatio Spafford goes like this; “My sin, oh the bliss of this glorious thought, my sin not in part but the whole, is nailed to His cross and I bear it no more, praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul.”
As we start a New Year, may everyday be filled with gratitude and praise because we have the righteousness of Christ instead of the weight of sin continually bearing down upon us. To Him be the glory both now and forevermore.
